Alcoa has a council-manager with an elected board of five commissioners that serve four-year, staggered terms. The Board of Commissioners is the legislative and policy-making body of the City. The Board of Commissioners hires a professional city manager to manage and direct day-to-day operation of the City government, administer the budget, and oversee all City employees. The mayor and vice-mayor are chosen from among the commissioners and serve the length of their term.
Other than the Mayor, Commissioners do not maintain offices at the Municipal Building. However, they may be contacted by phone at 865-380-4795. Elected officials also may be contacted in writing by addressing mail to their attention and sending it to the City of Alcoa or emailing messages to the individual member.
