Tire Disposal

Effective July 1, 2014, the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation discontinued the waste tire disposal grant that had been available to counties managing waste tire disposal.

Beginning July 1, 2014, the waste tire disposal fees will change according the following schedule. All tires accepted for disposal must be off the rim and not contain water, fluids, dirt, mud, or other materials inside the tire.

Waste Tire Disposal Fee Schedule


Free Tire Disposal For:


  • Tires received from licensed tire dealers located in Blount County, TN, who have paid the waste tire disposal fee to the Tennessee Department of Revenue for each tire that is presented for disposal at the Alcoa/Maryville/Blount County Landfill.
  • Tires received from local government departments/agencies in Blount County TN, who have paid the waste tire disposal fee to tire dealers located in Blount County and present a receipt indicating the waste tire fees were paid in Blount County to the Landfill Scale house when the tires are presented for disposal.

$102 Per Ton For:


Bulk loads of tires (greater than 8 tires per load) presented for disposal by individuals, businesses, agencies, or other entities located in Blount County, who have not paid the waste tire disposal fee in Blount County. Companies, agencies, or entities will have to provide to the Landfill a copy of a receipt indicating the waste tire disposal fees were paid inside Blount County in order to not be charged the bulk rate. The minimum fee is $25.50.

$2 Per Tire For:


Small quantities (8 tires or less) of passenger car and light truck tires smaller than 21-inch rim diameter presented for disposal from Blount County residents, companies, businesses, agencies, or other entities.

$2.50 Per Tire For:


Small quantities (8 tires or less) of truck tires larger than 21-inch rim diameter presented for disposal from Blount County residents, companies, businesses, agencies, or other entities.

$15.50 Per Tire For:


Agriculture tires larger than 24.5-inch rim diameter, regardless of quantity, presented for disposal from Blount County residents, companies, businesses, agencies, or other entities.

The Landfill will not accept tires which are not included in the above fee schedule or meet the quality control guidelines.
