Fire Suppression

The City of Alcoa Fire Department (AFD) protects a population of 8,449 citizens covering 14.8 square miles. This is accomplished using two engines, two aerial ladders and six support vehicles.

During 2014, the Alcoa Fire Department responded to 1,665 emergency incidents. Of the 1,665 incidents, 56 were structure, vehicle, brush or other fires.

The department is made up of 41 full-time employees consisting of:
  • 29 full-time and eight part-time personnel
  • One administrative assistance
  • One administrative captain
  • One deputy chief
  • One fire chief
  • One fire marshal
For additional manpower, the City of Alcoa Fire Department has an automatic aid agreement with the City of Maryville Fire Department (MFD). Both MFD and AFD respond when needed with four firefighters from their City to work structure fires in their mutual aid city.
