As the City of Alcoa Electric Department continues more aggressive efforts to trim trees that relate to power outages, the City’s contractor will be using a specially equipped helicopter to support its tree trimming work. Residents in the areas of Bear Hollow, Cold Springs, Old Chilhowee, Nebo and Laurel Valley may see the low-flying helicopter as it conducts this work. The work is set to begin on Monday, June 11th and continues Mondays through Saturdays, until June 30th.
Those in the affected work area with a current telephone number on file with their utility account should receive a voice message regarding the event. Customer using the new PowerPal app and signed up to receive notifications of power outage events will receive text messages.
Customers are encouraged to make sure their account reflects their current telephone number in order to receive voice notifications of power events. Mobile device users can download the PowerPal app to report and view electric outages as well as view and pay their bill. The free PowerPal app is available in the Apple App and Google Play stores.
