Board of Commissioners - Tuesday, November 11, 2014 - 7:00 p.m.

Alcoa Regional Planning Commission - Thursday, November 20, 2014 at 5:30 p.m.

The City of Alcoa has scheduled a Public Meeting from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 30, 2014 at the City of Alcoa Service Center, 725 Universal St., Alcoa, TN 37701 for the purpose of soliciting public comment / input on the design and construction of a proposed walking and biking path along Park Road and the perimeter of the Alcoa Duck Pond. The proposed pathway will improve pedestrian / bicyclist access to the Alcoa Elementary School, improve the alternative transportation options provided by the Alcoa-Maryville Greenway system, and will also enhance recreation and exercise opportunities for citizens in the community. The Public Meeting will be an “open house” forum. Persons interested in this project may attend at any point during the appointed hours to receive information on this project and to provide comments on the same. Written comments may be provided and a Court Reporter will be present to receive oral comments. Persons with questions regarding this Public Meeting, who may require special accommodations for this meeting, and/or who may have questions regarding this project may contact the Alcoa Public Works & Engineering Department at (865) 380-4800 or e-mail: publicworks@cityofalcoa-tn.gov.

The proposed project is being developed in accordance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 which provides that the no person shall, on the grounds of race, sex, age, national origin, or disabling condition, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity receiving federal financial assistance.

The City of Alcoa Public Works Department has begun fall leaf collection. Collection will continue through January 2. Crews will target the City according to the following Tuesday through Friday schedule:
Tuesday – West Hunt Rd, Northwood, St. Ives, Victoria Gardens, Armona, and Benford Hgts.

Wednesday – Bassel area from Hannum St to Joule St, Louisville Rd from Bessemer St to West Hunt Rd, Hamilton St, Westgate, North & South Linden Dr, Green Meadow, Andover, Crosswinds, Middlesettlements Rd, Heather Crossing, Murdock, Frary, Maury, Lodge, Ramsay, Huxley and E. Hunt Rd

Thursday – Oldfield community, Rock Gardens, McArthur Rd, Springbrook area between Springbrook Rd / Wright Rd / Duncan Sta. Rd, Upton St, and Center St

Friday – Hall community, Wright Rd north of Hunt Rd, Alcoa Hwy area, Rocky Waters, Chandler Rd, Topside Rd area, Island Home, Cusick Rd, Singleton Sta Rd, Williams Mill Rd, Sam Houston School Rd, Mill, Springbrook Rd, Alcoa, Hoopes, Lake, and Faraday

Crews will make every effort to maintain this schedule. However, collections may fall behind due to inclement weather or heavier than anticipated loads, etc. Depending on weather and other factors, leaf collection should continue through the second week of January.

Residents are asked to separate leaves from other wastes (brush, demolition debris, etc.) and place them near the street for collection. Leaves should be placed behind the street?s curb or shoulder fronting the homeowners? property. Please do not rake leaves into the street. Raking leaves into the street obstructs the view and passage of motorists and clogs the City?s storm sewer systems.

If there is a legitimate reason the homeowner cannot place leaves behind their curb or ditch, or if there are other questions concerning leaf collection, please call the Alcoa Public Works Department at 380-4815 or 380-4800.
