Greenway Trail & Park Patrol

The Greenway Trail was ready for use on November 15, 1998, and then officially opened with a formal dedication ceremony in the spring of 1999. This facility is a paved walkway from Maryville City Greenbelt to and through Springbrook Park, approximately 15 miles in distance. Additional stretches of walkway near Clayton Homes and the Oldfield Community attach to the original Greenway. The Greenway is a linear park system with indigenous plants and trees that promote native wildlife that inhabit the area.

Alcoa Police Department Volunteers in Police Service (VIPS) patrol the Greenway via a four-wheeled vehicle from early spring through fall. Additionally, officers ride bicycles and motorcycles on the trail. By doing so, APD hopes to promote safety and meet the community members who frequent this wonderful addition to our city.
