The Alcoa Public Works and Engineering Department is a team of professionals dedicated to serving the citizens and utility customers of Alcoa. The Department is composed of seven divisions: Sanitation Services, Street Services, Landfill Services, Water Quality Services, Water and Wastewater Services, Support Services, and Administration and Engineering. The Department’s philosophy of service is illustrated in its mission statement:

 
   

The mission of the City of Alcoa's Public Works and Engineering Department is to provide quality services that are responsive to customer needs. Customer satisfaction is achieved through economic responsibility by utilizing our human, financial and natural resources to their greatest potential. Our vision of a quality community will be built on foundations of the past while continuing to improve our services.

 
   

The Public Works and Engineering offices are located at 1050 Springbrook Road in the City’s original fire station. Office hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. General inquiries may be made by calling 865-380-4800. After-hours inquiries may be made by calling 865-983-3911.
