OPERATION REDBALL

Operation Red Ball is a program designed to aid firefighters in locating handicapped citizens inside their home in the event of an emergency. A firefighter can come to your home to explain and implement the program upon request.

How the program works:

A uniformed firefighter will come to your home and take information such as where in the home the handicapped person is located location most of the time. They will then place a Red Ball decal on the window of that room in the residence. Mobility information is also obtained about the person as to whether the person can move freely about the residence or if they are confined to bed. Then, before leaving, firefighters place another decal on the front door of the residence. Upon arriving during an emergency at an Operation Red Ball home, firefighters immediately see the decal on the front door and are alerted to proceed with rescue operations in the room of the resident with the decal. This service provides firefighters with the knowledge that someone is inside this residence who probably cannot exit on their own, many times saving valuable seconds and lives.
