The City of Alcoa was honored with two awards during the 2007 Annual Conference of the Tennessee Chapter of the American Public Works Association (TCAPWA), held in Clarksville, Tennessee October 13-16, 2007.
The City’s Water Treatment Plant received the TCAPWA Public Works Project of the Year Award. This qualifies the Plant as a nominee for the 2008 American Public Works Association Top Ten Public Works Projects of the Year that will be announced at the national conference scheduled for New Orleans in September 2008. In presenting the award, the TCAPWA noted that the project epitomizes outstanding planning, construction and management. Key contributors to the project included staff of Smith Seckman Reid, Inc. (engineering services), Architects’ International (architectural services), and the Water Treatment and Engineering Services Divisions of the Public Works and Engineering Department. Mayor, Don Mull commented, “I am proud of both accomplishments, it is a real testament to the quality of our employees and their dedication toward excellence in the delivery of our municipal services to our citizens and customers.” | |||
