The City of Alcoa announced today that Morgan Contracting has requested the closure of Martin Mill Pike this weekend due to the installation of an auxiliary raw water intake pipeline. It was previously announced that the road would reopen on the weekends during construction. The contractor was unable to start work as scheduled and encountered difficulties with their expected approach to handling the large sections of pipe resulting in a change in their construction methods. To meet their schedule for completing work within the Martin Mill Pike area, the contractor requested to work through this weekend. The City’s goal is to complete the work as quickly as possible and before the new school year begins therefore requiring the weekend closure.
