Topside Road Traffic Signals Installed

The City of Alcoa announced today the completion of installation of two new traffic signals aimed at improving safety in the Topside Road and Pellissippi Parkway vicinity. The signals are located at the Topside Road and Marriott Drive intersection and on Topside Road at the Eastbound Pellissippi Parkway exit ramp.

This signal installation is a joint project between the City of Alcoa and the Blount County Industrial Development Board. The contractor is Progression Electric. As a result of the expansion of the Marriott Business Services operations located in the Topside area, a grant from the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community funded most of the project.

The signals will help to improve the ever-increasing traffic flow in the area and enhance the public safety for motorists. To help motorists become acclimated to the new signals, they are currently in a flash mode until May 10th when they will be fully operational. Motorists are advised to proceed with caution as they become familiar with the newly signalized intersections.
