|
nt announced the installation of new equipment in the Hall community of Alcoa that will improve its service to the area. Installation began this week to convert its old 4kV system to a new 13kV system. The conversion will involve installing new 13kV overhead lines, poles, and transformers and removing the existing 4kV equipment. Work, being done by Dillard Smith Construction Company, will begin on East Franklin Street near the Martin Luther King Center. The construction will continue for the next several weeks in the Hall community between East Franklin and Bessemer Streets. The public is asked to use patience and common sense when traveling around the construction area. The upgrade will improve service reliability by reducing electric interruptions to customers. System efficiency will be improved since electrical losses will be reduced which helps Alcoa keep rates as low as possible. | |
