04/20/2007 Alcoa Highway Bypass Closed Due to Gas Leak | |

The City of Alcoa has announced that he Alcoa Highway Bypass (Hwy. 129) from the Alcoa Highway and Hall Road split to the Louisville Road intersection has been closed for an indefinite time period due to a gas leak in the area. The City of Alcoa Fire–Rescue Department is on the scene along with Atmos Energy crews working to repair the leak. Alcoa Electric crews working on installation of new street lighting along the bypass accidentally cut into the gas line causing the leak. There is no eminent danger to citizens or businesses in the area. Atmos Energy said that the repair will be a prolonged event. | |
