03/24/2010    Louisville Road - Bessemer Street Stormwater Work Scheduled

The City of Alcoa Public Works and Engineering Department today announced that stormwater construction may cause some traffic delays this weekend in part of the City.

Saturday and Sunday, March 27th and 28th, the section of Louisville Road between Bessemer Street and the greenway parking area, behind Dick’s Sporting Goods, will be closed. Bessemer Street between Calderwood Street and the entrance to K-Mart, past McCammon Avenue will be restricted to one lane in both directions.

The stormwater contractor, Keck Enterprises, will begin work at 7:00 a.m. Saturday and should complete the work Sunday evening, weather permitting. Traffic will be maintained along Bessemer Street by flagmen who will also direct the flow of traffic to and from McCammon Avenue which will remain open.

Motorists traveling through the area may want to choose an alternate route around the work or allow a few extra minutes to reach their destination. Motorists are reminded to exercise caution in the work area.
