The City of Alcoa Police Department responded to a head-on collision Thursday morning at 8:48 a.m. on Topside Road near Tophill Road that resulted in the death of one driver. The preliminary investigation revealed that Terry Spencer, 55, of Martin Mill Pike in Knoxville was driving a 2002 Dodge Ram truck. Spencer was driving westbound on Topside Road when he crossed the center line striking a 1994 Honda Accord. The driver of the Honda, Troy Adkins, 31, of Kenzie Drive in Louisville was killed instantly. A three-year-old child in Adkins vehicle was also seriously injured and is currently at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in the intensive care unit. Spencer is listed in serious condition also at the University of Tennessee Medical Center. The accident is still under investigation.
