The City of Alcoa Public Works Department announced today that construction crews will temporarily detour traffic at the intersection of Old Knoxville Highway (State Route 33) and Hunt Road for several hours Thursday evening August 23, 2012 to install a new section of waterline. This work was previously scheduled and could not be completed due to faulty material. The work is part of the utility relocations in preparation for roadway improvements. Adams & Sons, Inc. of Sevierville is the contractor.

The flow of traffic will be channeled and restricted to one lane in all directions. Only one direction will be allowed to pass at a time. An additional temporary closure will be scheduled at a later time during the day to conduct final road repairs due to scheduling of material deliveries. Motorists are urged to use caution and watch for the workers and equipment when passing through this intersection.
