The Alcoa / Maryville / Blount County Landfill announced today that effective immediately only dealer generated and individual waste tires are being accepted. Representative Carolyn Houston with Macks Tire Recycling, the Landfill’s waste tire contractor, advised officials Monday morning that their Nashville plant is underwater due to the flooding in the area and that they will be unable to transport waste tire trailers this week. Non-dealer bulk waste tire loads will not be accepted until waste tire trailer transport resumes. Trailer transports are expected to resume in approximately two weeks.
