Tire Disposal

Effective July 1, 2014, the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation discontinued the waste tire disposal grant that had been available to counties managing waste tire disposal.

Beginning July 1, 2014, the waste tire disposal fees will change according the following schedule. All tires accepted for disposal must be off the rim and not contain water, fluids, dirt, mud, or other materials inside the tire.

Waste Tire Disposal Fee Schedule

Effective January 1, 2023:

$120 Per Ton For:

Bulk loads of tires (greater than 8 tires per load) received from individuals residing in or entities located in Blount County, TN. The minimum fee is $30.00.

$2.50 Per Tire For:

Small quantities (8 tires or less) of passenger car and light truck tires smaller than 21-inch rim diameter received from individuals residing in or entities located in Blount County, TN.

$7.50 Per Tire For:

Small quantities (four (4) tires or less) of truck tires (larger than 21-inch rim diameter) received from individuals residing in or entities located in Blount County, TN.

$20.00 Per Tire For:

Agriculture tires larger than 24.5-inch rim diameter, regardless of quantity, received from individuals residing in or entities located in Blount County, TN.

The Landfill will not accept tires which are not included in the above fee schedule or meet the quality control guidelines.
