The City of Alcoa Fire Department (AFD) protects a population of 8,449 citizens covering 14.8 square miles. This is accomplished using three engines, two aerial ladders and six support vehicles.
During 2020, AFD responded to 2,071 emergency incidents. Of those incidents, 583 were structure, vehicle, brush, other fires and alarms.
The department is made up of 38 full-time employees consisting of:
33 line personnel
One administrative assistant
One administrative captain
One deputy chief
One fire chief
One fire marshal
Due to the low number of on-duty (9-per shift) fire personnel, AFD relies on automatic
aid (4 personnel from Maryville Fire Department) in order to achieve a positive outcome at structure fires.
