[ARCHIVED] Four Adults, Two Children Die in Alcoa House Fire

City of Alcoa Police Chief David Carswell and Fire Chief Roger Robinson announced today that six people – four adults and two children – died today during a house fire in Alcoa.

Dispatch received a call at 5:24 a.m. today from a citizen who spotted a house fire while driving down North Wright Road in Alcoa. Seven police officers and 29 Alcoa and Maryville firefighters responded and arrived on scene at 5:31 a.m. to find the house mostly engulfed in flames.

Firefighters began attacking the firefighters and searching for victims in the residence. Firefighters, Alcoa police officers and AMR paramedics began doing CPR and rescue efforts upon discovering victims inside of the residence.

Unfortunately, all six people were pronounced dead from injuries sustained in the fire. Identification of the six victims is pending autopsy, but four of the victims are adults and two are children.

An autopsy will be performed at UT Forensics Center on Monday, April 23rd. Further details and identification of the victims will be released upon autopsy results and notification of kin.  The City of Alcoa Police Department is working with the Alcoa fire marshall and Blount County Sheriff’s Office’s fire investigator.
