[ARCHIVED] Public Works Automated Garbage Truck

News and Announcements (1)

The City of Alcoa announces a new automated garbage pickup truck. The truck is now servicing areas around the Alcoa community, allowing for faster pickup times. The City asks all citizens using the residential garbage service to use the following guidelines when placing the garbage cart out on pickup day:

1. Place the cart as close to the curb as possible, wheels facing your residence and the front of the cart facing the street.

2. Keep the cart at least two (2) to three (3) feet from any other objects—such as a recycling cart, electric pole, or parked car.

3. Move all vehicles off the street, if possible, on your pickup day. This increases truck accessibility on the street.

These precautions allow for the best use of the truck, as well as provide the best service possible. The guidelines also apply to the recycling cart placement on your scheduled recycling pickup day.

The City thanks our residents during this transition to the new automated truck.
