The City of Alcoa Sanitary Sewer crew will be conducting a smoke test of the sanitary sewer system tomorrow, June 1, beginning at 10:00 a.m. that morning. Affected areas include Upton Street, Center Street, and Duncan Station Road.
The purpose of the smoke test is to locate breaks, defects, and plumbing faults in the sewer system. The smoke is NON-toxic, white/gray in color, leaves no residue, and does not pose a fire hazard. During the smoke test, you may see smoke coming from building vent stacks, holes in the ground, or other locations. The Sanitary Sewer crew has notified the Alcoa Police and Fire Departments of this testing.
