TRAFFIC ALERT
ALCOA HIGHWAY
KNOXVILLE – Motorists traveling in Blount County should be aware of a temporary closure of Alcoa Highway (US 129/SR 115) this weekend.
On Sunday, August 27th at 8 a.m., Alcoa Highway (US 129/SR 115) will be closed to southbound traffic between North Hall Road (SR 35) and Louisville Road. This is in order to allow for the repair and repaving of the railroad crossing in this area
.
The detour route will take Alcoa Highway southbound traffic to North Hall Road (SR 35) to Bessemer Street, to Louisville Road, and then back to Alcoa Highway.
Signage will be in place to alert motorists of the traffic detour. Motorists are advised to use extreme caution in this area as workers will be present.
Northbound traffic on Alcoa Highway will not be affected. Alcoa Highway will reopen to southbound traffic by 6 a.m. on Monday, August 28th.
This schedule is contingent on favorable weather conditions in the area.

In 2016, the Tennessee Department of Transportation lost three workers in the line of duty. All three were struck by passing motorists. Those tragedies bring the total number of TDOT lives lost to 112. We don’t want to lose another member of our TDOT family. We’re asking you to WORK WITH US.
