Given the amount of rain that has fallen and the amount predicted, police Chief David Carswell stated, “It will be the best for all, both in safety and practicality, to cancel this year’s event. With the treacherous conditions that this amount of rain causes (potential flooding, vehicle crashes, etc.) we are cognizant that the services of officers and emergency personnel may be needed elsewhere.”
Carswell continued, “Although this is a "rain or shine" event, the current weather situation is beyond a mere “rain.” Should it only have been a sprinkle just before or after the event began, we would have honored the “rain or shine” motto.”
The police and fire departments regret having to cancel but look forward to future community events.
