City of Alcoa Police Chief David Carswell said today that, "Alcoa police officers have increased their enforcement efforts in shopping centers for the holiday season to provide extra protection for shoppers."
City of Alcoa Police Department officers will be paying special attention to Alcoa’s retail stores over the coming weeks, and will be working to combat retail theft. The department’s Criminal Investigations Division will also be conducting multiple special operations to provide extra protection for those who shop in Alcoa. The police department partnered with many of the city’s local merchant’s loss prevention staff to strengthen the enforcement efforts over the holiday season.
“We initiated a retail theft task force, which began on December 5th and will continue to operate through the end of the holiday season,” Carswell said. “Our goal is to make retail stores in the City of Alcoa as safe as possible for shoppers over the coming weeks.”
Alcoa police officers remind shoppers to stay extra vigilant and aware of your surroundings while shopping, and to follow your instincts. Call 9-1-1 or store security if you feel uncomfortable or come into contact with a suspicious person. Make sure to always report suspicious incidents to law enforcement.
