UPDATE 6/22/2022: Looks like we have another few days of record setting temperatures this week. TVA has implemented ELCP Steps 10 and 20 again today and are requesting all customers to curtail any non-essential electric loads from 1:00 to 9:00 p.m. tonight. This is an effort to help maintain a reliable grid as the load reaches the peak for the day. Check back for more updates as the week progresses.

UPDATE 6/15/2022: TVA has made plans to initiate both Steps 10 and 20 of the ELCP for today, June 15, beginning at 1:00 p.m. and lasting until 9:00 p.m. tonight. Please be aware that TVA is making plans to possibly implement these Steps for tomorrow, June 16, and Friday, June 17.
UPDATE 6/14/22 12:15 p.m.: TVA is implementing both Steps 10 and 20 of the ELCP today, June 14, from 1:00 to 9:00 p.m. tonight. TVA is asking residents to limit any non-essential energy loads for cost-effective saving including but not limited to reduced lighting in unoccupied areas, unplugging unused equipment in residences and businesses, and adjusting thermostat temperatures in areas that are usually unoccupied. Please be aware that these steps will likely be in effect tomorrow, June 15, and Thursday, June 16. The Alcoa Electric Department will continue to provide updates as TVA supplies information.
UPDATE: The Tennessee Valley Authority has terminated Step 20 of the ELCP for today, June 13th. Customers may resume normal energy consumption for the remainder of the evening. Check back for daily updates during this week’s extreme heat conditions.
The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) is requesting all customers to voluntarily curtail any non-essential electric load effective today, June 13th at 2:00 p.m. until further notice. As part of their Emergency Load Curtailment Program (ELCP), TVA is implementing Step 20 of their program which aims to proactively maintain a stable and reliable power grid as this week’s temperatures approach record setting highs.
This implementation may incorporate steps in residences and businesses that include reduce lighting during the day—including turning off lights in rooms not occupied, adjusting A/C thermostats when not home or in parts of the residence that is not routinely occupied, and unplugging devices or appliances not frequently used. The Alcoa Electric Department will provide updates immediately when shared by TVA as this week progresses. Thank you for your patience.
