City of Alcoa Public Works & Engineering Department crews will be installing new sidewalks on Louisville Road between North Linden Drive and the traffic signal at the Hunters Crossing/Louisville Road intersection. The work will start January 24, 2017 and will continue over the next four months with a scheduled completion date of May 26, 2017. Construction will occur between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Tuesday thru Friday of each week. Inclement weather or unforeseen conditions may extend this project.
The work will take place in two phases. The first phase will consist of a detour of southbound traffic directed onto North Linden Drive and reentering Louisville Road at South Linden Drive. Northbound traffic will continue down Louisville Road with possible lane shifts. The second phase will consist of lane closures when needed and will be controlled by flaggers. Traffic lanes will be reopened daily by 4:30 p.m.
Local residents and employees of businesses in the area should exercise caution while traveling around the construction zone. Motorists should allow extra travel time to reach their destination along these routes.
It is advised that any traffic needing to travel through the construction zone on Louisville Road seek other means to limit delays.
