[ARCHIVED] Alcoa Spring Leaf Collection Scheduled to Begin

The annual spring collection of leaves for the City of Alcoa will begin Tuesday, March 07 and end Friday, March 17. Residents are asked to separate leaves from other wastes (brush, demolition debris, etc.) and place them near the street for collection. Leaves should be placed behind the street's curb or shoulder fronting the homeowner’s property. Please do not rake leaves into the street. Raking leaves into the street obstructs the view and passage of motorists and clogs the City's storm sewer systems. If there is a legitimate reason the homeowner cannot place leaves behind their curb or ditch, or if there are other questions concerning leaf collection, please call the Alcoa Public Works Department at 380-4815 or 380-4800. Note that bagging of leaves will not be required during this 2-week period. Leaves may be raked to the curb for vacuuming by the City's equipment. However, prior to and following spring collection, leaves must be bagged and are collected during bulky waste collection weeks.

This and other information regarding residential solid waste collection is included on the Brush and Bulky Waste collection calendars mailed in December to each city household. Residents who did not receive a calendar, have misplaced their calendar, or have other questions regarding solid waste collection and recycling may call the Alcoa Public Works Department at 380-4800.
