Personal Accomplishments

Mr. James (Jim) F. Buchanan was  elected as a Commissioner for the City of Alcoa, Tennessee in 2016. He and his wife Christy are the parents of Caroline and Fletcher. He was born in Grundy, Virginia but has lived all of his adult life in East Tennessee, the past 18 years being in the Springbrook Community of Alcoa.

He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Lincoln Memorial University. He has worked in the composite industry for approximately thirty years, first with Brunswick Corporation and currently as the Regional Sales Manager for 3A Composites.

He enjoys golfing, hiking, fishing and snow skiing. He also enjoys supporting football and basketball at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville campus. He is a member of Alcoa First United Methodist Church where he serves on the Trustee Committee and teaches a Sunday School class for 1st and 2nd grade children.
